All within permitted planning, this project involved removing a lovely, but very damp and rotten, old shed and building a new space to house both a garden office/studio and an adjoining garden shed for storage. Working with the client, we decided to use charred timber cladding and black corrugated steel sheets for the roof and surrounding walls.
We installed a cork floor (with underfloor heating), some salvaged lighting, a Yorkshire sash window made out of Accoya timber, galvanised steel guttering and a bespoke worktop/storage. Additional light is secured from a rooflight and eaves window. Working with my landscape builder brother Pat, we also installed a sweetchestnut decking area with planters. An indent to the structure creates space for either a log store or covered seat (from which to watch the rain).
